[ He hums and plates up a stack of pancakes in one huge tower because it's more fun to eat that way, sharing. The stove is turned off and he turns to bring the pancakes to the breakfast bar, keeping Chris close for kisses. ]

[ Actually, imagining Loki and La'an together sends a frisson of genuine fear through him. He does not see any altercation between the two of them going well; either they'll try to kill each other, or they'll get on far too well. Probably the former, but the latter isn't outside the realm of possibility. Both do not bode well for Chris's future. ]

[ Chris can't help rolling his eyes fondly at that, though Loki does technically have a point. Chris's word is law on the ship, more or less, and if he decides to implement new security protocols, La'an is able to give him suggestions for what she thinks would be best, to help guide him in his decisions, but ultimately what he says goes.

Hopefully they won't have to test that as they go.

He sets the coffee machine going, then slides the syrup across the counter for Loki to use on his pancakes. ]

Will you come as yourself or do I have to be suspicious of every single person on the bridge my entire shift?

[ Syrup! Perfect. He drizzles it over the whole stack then cuts a big forkful and offers it to Chris, hooking his fingers into his waistband to reel him in. ]

[ Not terribly put out by being denied a bite of pancake, considering how many more of them there are, Chris laughs when Loki twists out of the way, his "You started it!" lost in the commotion as he reaches in to slip his fingers beneath the hem of that flour-dusted blue tunic so he can scrabble his fingers against Loki's sides in a chastising tickle.

The coffee machine beeps at him so he steps aside, the lure of caffeine too strong to ignore even when the opportunity to play-tussle with his lover is set before him.

After coffee.

Chris drinks his black, but if Loki wants to doctor his, he's welcome to, as evidenced by the fact that Chris brings a little jug of milk out with him when he carries two slightly less-than-pristine Starfleet Academy mugs over to the counter with him held together in one hand. ]

[ How dare you, he giggles as he squirms to "escape", reprieved by coffee saving the day before Chris can find out all too well exactly how ticklish Loki is. He dutifully finds another fork and slides the pancakes between them, then sets to putting sugar and milk in his coffee (he misses NY so much at that very moment).

It's a companionable, comfortable breakfast, with Loki lounging on Chris as they eat and stealing kisses around their meal. He tries his very best to back him against the countertop once the pancakes are gone, hands roaming under his black vest to feel their way back to a happy-trail. [ Drinking coffee out of chipped mugs he's had half his life and sharing pancakes cooked together is a startlingly domestic morning that Chris honestly had not anticipated this time the day before, but he definitely can't lie and say he doesn't enjoy it.

By the time they've finished the pancakes and the bacon both, he's starting to feel fully human again, clean and fed and caffeinated, and it shouldn't surprise him when Loki pins his hips back against the counter but somehow it does. ]

[ It's just as well Loki likes how it feels to have Chris play with his hair, because that's exactly where his hands go when he sinks to his knees, his fingers carding through those inky-black strands gently as he finger-combs it out of his face. ]

[ Twirling one of the longer pieces of Loki's hair around his finger, Chris arches his eyebrow down at him and smiles, a little bemused. ]

Considering I've never kept chickens, I don't have much of an opinion, I think. They're cute? Clever, too, or so I've heard.

[ He's such a farmboy, his Chris. Loki was mildly worried for a moment there he would get a complaint, but! Everything is fine. Totally fine.

He pushes his hair into Chris's hand and it suddenly feels a lot thicker, bushier, and cinnamon-red? To say he stares in confusion as Loki's hair morphs from jet-black to cinnamon would be an understatement. It's not so much the ears and tail that confuses him, the Caitians have been a member of the Federation for years, and he even has a few serving on board in a few different positions, but the easy transition from fully-human (human-looking, at least) Loki to... a Loki with a fox tail swishing behind him, is, well, jarring.

The fur (hair?) around his ears is very soft, though, and even as Chris boggles down at him, his fingers don't stop stroking along the delicate edges. ]

Loki, what. [ Sliding his hands down a little so he can cup his lover's jaw, he tilts his head up and examines him, as if looking for whiskers. ] Can you change all the way? Can you just do foxes? What about other animals? Baby, I have so many questions.

[ He rises to steal a peck on the lips, ears twitching this way and that to pick up the sounds on the ship before they flatten for Chris to pet and the black fur on top hides them against his hair. His tail snaps back and forth, a bushy worm writhing in excitement, pleased with Chris's reaction. ]

Something to think about on that boring bridge, isn't it?

[ No whiskers, no claws or sharp teeth. Loki lets Chris investigate as he pleases. ]

My helm has the shape of a fox's head on it, this is the animal I've always been as others come and go. I didn't think you would like a snout of fangs right up against your dick, though.

[ Watching those ears move is fascinating. Chris doesn't have really any up close and personal experience with foxes, so he couldn't tell you one way way the other what they were really like or what their fur felt like, but he's definitely impressed with Loki's transformation.

He can't help using his thumb to push up Loki's top lip though, checking his teeth. ]

[ He has so many questions but they don't really have the time to go through then all right now. As much as he would like to, Chris doesn't let himself voice them, deciding that Loki was right, he knew he'd be thinking about this all shift on the bridge, he could use that time to ponder just what to ask first when he returned to his quarters. That Loki would either be waiting for him or would meet him here seems a foregone conclusion; he doesn't even consider another possibility.

He can't help himself: one hand drops to Loki's backside to touch that writing tail, curious fingers shifting through the thick fur gently. ]

[ His trousers have adjusted to allow the tail through, the base of it connected to Loki's spine where fur sprouts from smooth skin. The swish makes Loki's hips move in time and he curls his new appendage up around Chris's side in a large swathe of plush softness, rusty and white. ]

You should come to the science labs and investigate me.

[ Smoothing his hand up over that tail as it curls around him, Chris lifts his eyebrows incredulously. ]

I'm not a scientist, remember?

[ Except in all the ways that he technically is. He did a rotation through the sciences department, same as everyone else, he took all the requisite courses he needed to in order to graduate, and he's spent his career serving on ships that made scientific exploration one of their top priorities.

He still considers himself a soldier first. ]

Besides. [ He slips his arms around Loki's waist and tugs him flush up against his chest. ] Weren't you the one lamenting my dastardly plan to get you under a microscope?

[ Loki treats him since Chris is being so sweet and when he smiles his teeth get sharper, in full view. Not too much, just to fill out his greedy grin. ]

I suppose I wouldn't mind as much if it involved getting up-close-and-personal with you instead of a random scientist.

[ Chris better hold onto that tail as it wags again, fuzzy ears pinned to Loki's head as he begs a kiss. ]

I'll keep that in mind for later, then.

[ The teeth sharpening should probably be alarming, but somehow they seem to fit perfectly in Loki's clever mouth, adding just enough of a glint of danger to an otherwise sweet smile that Chris can't help being intrigued.

He's always been a bit reckless, a bit too prone to throw himself headfirst into danger, and it would seem hitting forty wasn't enough to stop him.

He lets himself be coaxed into a kiss, careful and chaste at first before he gives in to temptation and lets his tongue touch the tip of those sharp teeth curiously.

He has to pull away with a laugh when that tail flings itself out of his grip, lashing about energetically behind Loki's back. ]

[ He doesn't notice his tail's doings until Chris points it out and then he curses under his breath. His tail curls between his legs to hide and his ears swerve up to attention, focused on keeping it down. ]
