There are different breeds of universes, mainly primes, alternates, and mayflies. Mine is a prime universe, as is yours I suspect, but a mayfly is a universe with a very short shelf-life because the creatures within it cannot learn to coexist and so destroy themselves. [ His head tilts against Chris's warmth, Loki's gaze on the wool sleeve he picks at. ] Planets stagnate after their inhabitants die off, people cause incursions that end their reality altogether, or an alternate universe subsumes the mayfly so that it never truly existed.

[ He thinks of when he was a boy with the Young Avengers and they fled to the Asgard where Loki's skeleton was sat on the throne of Hlidskjalf, Thor and Odin's decayed corpses reaching toward it. The feel of Kate gathering Loki into her arms as he sobbed in horror is still clear as day, she had been so kind to him in that moment. ]

Travelling through the Multiverse, I've seen a lot of dead Lokis who made the wrong choices.
